It was there\, while briefly a student at Nottingham High in Syracuse\, that I saw my first play. Our class had taken a field trip to The Syracuse Stage to see Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night. It was mesmerizing! I had no idea then that I would become a performer myself.\n After moving to the Lowcountry of South Carolina more than 30 years ago\, I became a storyteller and while doing research I came across journal entries about Harriet Tubman’s time on the South Carolina coast. I was excited about what I had learned and dug deeper. Until I began this research I hadn’t realized how very important she had been in the Central New York area as well. Bringing Becoming Harriet Tubman to Central New York feels like coming full circle in my own development.\n The last time I performed in the Central New York area I was dancing with a big yellow polliwog in Gullah Gullah Island Live! This is a whole different kind of show\, and I hope folk will enjoy it as much as I enjoy presenting it. \nThis performance is in collaboration with SUNY Oswego \nThis is event is open to the public.\n Tickets can be purchased at the door on the day of the performance\n Tickets are $15/ $5 for students with valid student ID\n CHILDREN 12 AND UNDER $5\n CASH/CHECK/CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS WILL BE ACCEPTED URL:https://calendar.syracuse.edu/events/2015-mar-05/becoming-harriet-tubman/ LOCATION:Community Folk Art Center 805 E.
