Syracuse University’s Commencement will take place at the Carrier Dome on Sunday, May 12, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. The ceremony will begin with student and academic processions, followed by keynote speakers and the ceremonial conferring of degrees. The ceremony will conclude by noon. Diplomas are mailed to students after the certification process.

Chancellor Kent Syverud will confer approximately 5,100 degrees at the associate, bachelor, master and doctoral levels as well as 200 juris doctor and nine master of law degrees. Vice Chancellor and Provost Michele G. Wheatly will preside over the ceremony during which recipients of the University’s highest undergraduate academic award will be named and retiring faculty members who have been recommended to receive the title of Emeritus will be acknowledged.

Parents, relatives, and friends of graduates are invited to attend Commencement. There is ample seating for all guests. Tickets are not necessary for Commencement. Entry to the Carrier Dome will begin at 7am.

Accessibility Accommodations

Sign language interpreters and computer aided real-time translation (CART) will be provided. Guests in wheelchairs or with mobility concerns may sit in the accessible sections of the Carrier Dome. Passes are required for these sections and can be requested by submitting an Accessibility Accommodations form. Passes will be mailed prior to Commencement.

Wheelchair-accessible buses (“Call-A-Bus”) are available for guests with wheelchairs or mobility limitations. These buses serve the Manley Field House North lot and University Ave. Garage to and from the Carrier Dome’s accessible entrance (Gate A). Attendants will be on hand to assist guests.
