Samba Larnja, Syracuse University’s Brazilian Ensemble, performs under the direction of Elisa and Joshua Dekaney.
“Voices of the Amazon Rainforest” is a concert highlighting traditional music of the Indigenous peoples of Brazil in a celebration of life and respect for nature. Drawing from the work of anthropologists Betty Mindlin and Catherine Sebirop and musician Magda Pucci, the songs honor the Xingu, Guaporé and Txucarramãe Indians of Brazil. Additionally, the ensemble will perform traditional drum and vocal pieces that showcase the vitality and excitement of Brazilian music.
This event will be streamed live. Please note that the video player will not become active until immediately prior to the concert’s start time.
