Mr. Kak will discuss his edited book titled, Witness – Kashmir 1986-2016, 9 Photographers (Yaarbal Books, 2017), which curates the work of Kashmiri photographers in order to construct a visual history of Kashmir’s prolonged struggle against India’s military occupation, and people’s resolve to live with dignity amidst insufferable violence.
Following his talk there will be a round table discussion on Kashmir featuring Mona Bhan (Anthropology), Akhil Kang (Cornell, Anthropology), Prema Kurian (Sociology), Chandra Mohanty (Women’s and Gender Studies),Taveeshi Singh (Social Sciences), and Nimisha Thakur (Anthropology).
Light refreshments will be served.
