LGBT Studies, within the College of Arts and Sciences, presents a lecture by Gayatri Gopinath, Professor; Director of Gender & Sexuality Studies; Director of the Center for the Study of Gender & Sexuality at New York University. She will speak on the work of two contemporary South Asian diasporic artists, the poet Agha Shahid Ali and the photographer Sunil Gupta, within the framework developed in her recently published book Unruly Visions: The Aesthetic Practices of Queer Diaspora (Duke, 2018). These artists negotiate the intersection of race, sexuality, and migration in multiple geographic locations.
