“Chi-Town” is a feature documentary that follows professional basketball player Keifer Sykes during his improbable rise from a Chicago high school to a shot at the NBA. The film premiered in 2018 at SXSW, where it was nominated for the Grand Jury prize for Best Feature Documentary. It won the Audience Award for Best Feature Documentary at Chicago’s Black Harvest Film Festival.
The screening will be followed by a Q&A with Newhouse alumni Nick Budabin ’00 (producer, director) and Terry Minogue ’00 (executive producer). A panel discussion will also feature members of the local anti-gun violence community organization S.N.U.G., who will discuss how gun violence has impacted the city of Syracuse, and how students and faculty can get involved with their mission.
