Dissertation Defense: Melany Silas

You are invited to attend and participate in the oral doctoral examination of Melany Silas, candidate for the Ph.D. degree, which will be held on Monday, October 28, at 11 a.m. in 220 Huntington Hall, the Ganders Lounge.

Silas’s advisor is Professor Derek X. Seward. The dissertation examining committee will be composed of Professors Melissa Luke, Kal Alston, Dawn Johnson, and Jeannine Dingus-Eason. Professor Carrie Smith will serve as chair of the defense. The title of the candidate’s dissertation is: “A Phenomenological Study on the Mental Health of Black Women and their Help-Seeking Strategies and the Implications for Counselor Education, Training and Practice.”
