Howard Chen ’02 is currently a producer for ESPN International, specializing mainly in ESPN’s video content for China, where he  officially changed the Dallas Mavericks’ team name in China, and got Tom Brady to share a message with fans in Mandarin Chinese. Chen has also served as a correspondent for ESPN’s entities in Africa and the Philippines.

After graduating from Syracuse with a broadcast journalism degree, Howard was a sports anchor/reporter at WHIZ-TV NBC in Zanesville, Ohio and then at WUPW-TV FOX Toledo before becoming a reporter on Astros and Rockets game broadcasts for Comcast SportsNet Houston. He was also CSN Houston’s main high school and college reporter. Chen is proud to have been a part of both WAER and Z89 sports staffs during his Syracuse days and loves coming back to campus!
