A Session for Staff who Handle and Interact with Student Information
Presented by Abby Perer and Michaele DeHart
FERPA, the federal law governing student privacy, dictates when and how we may (or must!) share student information.
This session, brought to you by the Offices of Risk Management and University Counsel will explain the basic rights and restrictions of the law, and answer the following questions:
- When may you share records about a student, and with whom may you share them?
- When and how may a student access their own records?
- What happens if you get it wrong, and how can you fix it if you do?
