Navigating the Unexpected: Chatting with Pros Who Have Overcome Career Obstacles
Join the Newhouse Career Development Center every Friday for a conversation with a variety of professionals from the communications industry who have overcome a of career obstacles and made the most of unexpected situations. Each week’s speaker will discuss a challenging time they experienced during their career and how they stayed motivated, kept moving, and came out the other side intact.

As the founder and executive producer of NYC-based Cutter Productions, Hillary Cutter is an industry leader in broadcast content creation and long-form storytelling, as well as a fierce champion for the inclusion of women in entertainment. Cutter and her partners made history in the production of the Tribeca Studios documentary, The Remix: Hip Hop X Fashion, by hiring a 90% female crew to produce this story about the intersection between hip hop and fashion, and the female trailblazers who designed these show-stopping looks. Cutter has successfully produced dozens of national TV commercials, as well as pioneering original programming, experiential activations, branded content, and docu-series. Cutter’s previous clients include The Walt Disney Company, Google, MTV, ABC, Under Armour, Colgate, Sony and Ford.
