150 Years of the Stone Mystery Man
On October 16, 1869 in the Hamlet of Cardiff NY, a petrified figure exceeding ten feet in length was unearthed. Dubbed ‘the Cardiff Giant’, the oddity became an overnight sensation. Throngs flocked to the sight, gladly paying for a glimpse. The giant would tour across the country, generating millions of dollars of revenue in the process. This exhibit shares artifacts relating to the giant and one of the key players in its promotion, the enigmatic David Hannum.
