Join the Leepa-Rattner Museum of Art Curator Christine Renc-Carter as she discusses the work of contemporary artist Louisa Chase ’73 with estate manager Ted Holland ’03 (Hirschl & Adler Modern, NY, NY), friend George Negroponte (Artist and manager of Chase’s studio, East Hampton, NY), and scholar Andrew J. Saluti ’99, G’09 (Syracuse University, NY).
This lively discussion will reveal what lies beneath Chase’s powerful paintings and prints by exploring her creative process and learning about her impact on the contemporary art world. From her meteoric rise in the male-dominated New York art scene in the 1970s and 80s, her bold visual language was uniquely her own. With tenacity and fervor, Chase continued to reinvent herself into the new millennium with a voice that remains relevant today.
