The Akropolis Reed Quintet performs imaginative chamber music, pushing the boundaries of the reed quintet genres and opportunities. Over the last 10 years, the ensemble has won seven national chamber music prizes including the Fischoff Gold Medal, Fischoff Educator Award, Plowman Grand Prize, and MTNA Grand Prize.Their most recent recording, The Space Between Us reflects on a “journey from conflict to resolution.” For their performance at Hendricks Chapel, the ensemble will feature a program of contemporary music, including Splinter by Marc Mellits, Rites for the Afterlife by Stacy Garrop, and Homage to Paradise Valley by Jeff Scott.
This event is part of the Malmgren Concert Series and commences the Akropolis Reed Quintet’s extended residency in the Setnor School of Music.
