Presented by Prof. Jason Dedrick. The electric grid in the US and other countries faces tremendous challenges, from decarbonization through integration of renewable energy to increasing resilience against natural disasters, to preventing devastating cyberattacks. Smart grid technologies, including Internet-of-things devices, wireless networks, and sophisticated data analytics offer solutions to those problems, but present challenges of their own. This presentation looks at the current state of smart grid deployment and future opportunities and challenges.
