While writing his autobiography in 2009, the late Earl Lloyd, NBA pioneer, shared deeply personal thoughts on racism in America. This is an excerpt from Sean Kirst’s book “Moonfixer, The Basketball Journey of Earl Lloyd,” published by the Syracuse University Press as read by Syracuse poet and writer Aarick Knighton. Lloyd was the first African-American athlete to play in the NBA.
