For the past five years the Syracuse University’s Teaching English Language Program (TELL) has partnered with Nottingham High School to host a “We Are Syracuse” Event at Syracuse University in the School of Education.

At “We Are Syracuse,” refugee students from Nottingham High School will share their stories, poetry and artwork at this gallery-style event that’s dedicated to celebrating their cultures and promoting understanding and appreciation. Students from Tanzania, Eritrea, Syria, Iraq, and more will tell of their experiences through written and visual displays, small-group PowerPoint presentations, and conversation over food and artwork.

This is an important opportunity for the students to practice their oral skills as they connect with the Syracuse University and wider community while they share their stories.

This event was first published on March 9, 2020 and last updated on March 23, 2020.
