Join journalists from The Boston Globe for a conversation about the 2020 election, the role of battleground states and what has changed—or not changed—since 2016.
Joel Kaplan, associate dean at the Newhouse School, will moderate the discussion.
Panelists include:
- Jess Bidgood, national political reporter
- Liz Goodwin, deputy bureau chief in Washington, D.C.
- Jazmine Ulloa, reporter
The journalists are part of the team that won the 2020 Toner Prize for Excellence in National Political Reporting, presented by the Newhouse School. They won for the series “Back to the Battleground,” which placed reporters in four pivotal states that helped decide the 2016 presidential election: Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan and Wisconsin. The team told the stories of those states through the lives of average citizens, seeking to document how their lives had changed—or not changed—during the Trump presidency, and whether or not they were inclined to vote for him again as a result.
