Join us for a conversation with visual artist, Juan Juarez, as we discuss his photo and video installation piece, Corpus. This work engages the artist and viewer in a very intimate say as we examine our personal experiences with memories of Abuela. Juan Juarez is an interdisciplinary artist and Associate Professor of Studio Arts at Syracuse University’s College of Visual and Performing Arts. His photography and video installation, Corpus, emerged from a specific site and place in memory, a photographic documentation of his paternal grandmother’s house in Laredo, Texas. His initial intention to preserve the memory of this abandoned site before it succumbed to utter decay, transformed into an investigation of how memory is constructed.
