Collectively\, the artworks in this exhibit break convention by challenging the expected\, disrupting stereotypes and non-Haudenosaunee historical narratives. \nAs the artists and their works demonstrate in this exhibit\, the continuous trajectory of Haudenosaunee art has been in existence since long before 1607 and the arrival of Europeans. What does a canon of Haudenosaunee art look like? Each One Inspired: Haudenosaunee art across the homelands will give visitors a sense of the dynamic\, loud\, punchy\, glittering\, somber\, and intricate ways Haudenosaunee artists respond to\, react to\, and draw inspiration from their communities and histories; in doing so\, this exhibit asks visitors to question their own relationships to Indigenous histories\, people\, and lands. \nCurated by Gwendolyn Saul\, PhD\, Curator of Ethnography and Ethnology\, these works are on loan from the  Contemporary Native American Art Collection\, New York State Museum\, Albany. \nMuseum Hours\nTuesday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.\nWednesday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.\nThursday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.\nFriday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.\nSaturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.\nSunday10 a.m. to 4 p.m. \nClosed Mondays & University holidays URL:https://calendar.syracuse.edu/events/2021-aug-19/each-one-inspired-haudenosaunee-art-across-the-homelands/ LOCATION:Syracuse University Art Museum Shaffer Hall\, Syracuse\, NY\, 13244\, United States CATEGORIES:Arts and Performance ATTACH;FMTTYPE=image/jpeg:https://calendar.syracuse.edu/wp-content/uploads/E-2019.23.1_v1_001-745x1100.jpg ORGANIZER;CN="Syracuse University Art Museum":MAILTO:suart@syr.edu GEO:43.0367351;-76.1324372 X-APPLE-STRUCTURED-LOCATION;VALUE=URI;X-ADDRESS=Syracuse University Art Museum Shaffer Hall Syracuse NY 13244 United States;X-APPLE-RADIUS=500;X-TITLE=Shaffer Hall:geo:43.0367351,-76.1324372 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
