The author of five books on art and ecology, Sue Spaid recently published her first philosophy monograph “The Philosophy of Curatorial Practice: Between Work and World” (2020). A former museum director and museum curator, Spaid has curated approximately 100 exhibitions and has written almost as many catalog essays plus more than 140 reviews for art magazines and journals. A practicing philosopher, she has published papers in “Journal of Somaesthetics,” “Rivista di Estetica,” “The Journal of Aesthetics and Art Criticism,” “Open Philosophy,” “Aesthetic Investigations,” “Popular Inquiry,” “Art Inquiry: Recherche sur les art,” and “Philosophica,” as well as chapters in “The State of Art Criticism” (2008), “The Philosophy of Arthur Danto” (2013), “Arte y Filosofía en Arthur Danto” (2016), and “Advancements in the Philosophy of Design” (2017).

Presented as part of the Visiting Artist Lecture Series in the College of Visual and Performing Arts’ School of Art. The lecture is available to the public via livestream on the Syracuse University Art Museum YouTube channel.
