Join Department of Art and Music Histories graduate student Mary Bedell G’21, curator of the virtual exhibition As They Were: Berenice Abbott’s Queer Parisian Portraiture, 1921- 1929, for a Lunchtime Lecture exploring the portraiture work that Abbott, herself a lesbian, created that reveal the resilience and creativity of her gay and bisexual subjects. These figures were writers and artists in their own right, and their contributions propelled forward what we now know as the early twentieth-century avant-garde.
