This event is part of the Racial Equity Academic Symposium which is presented by the Office of Diversity and Inclusion and the Division of Faculty Affairs in the Office of Academic Affairs:
The Eighth Annual Spoken Word Poetry Institute features poet Nikki Giovanni who is a University Distinguished Professor at Virginia Tech University, author and MSNBC contributor and poet, writer, visual artist, and media professional Keisha-Gaye Anderson ’96. Giovanni and Anderson will share their spoken word poetry and explore the Black experience with students, faculty, and staff. During the event, both poets will receive the 2021 Poetic Icon Award.
The Spoken Word Poetry Institute and the Poetic Icon Award are Office of Multicultural Affairs’ events.
