The oral doctoral examination of Kyle Makovsky, candidate for the Ph.D. degree will be held on Thursday, January 28, at 11 a.m. in Zoom.

Makovsky’s advisor is Professor Scott Samson. The dissertation examining committee will be composed of Professors Jay Thomas, Suzanne Baldwin, Marion “Pat” Bickford and David Moecher. Professor John Tillotson will serve as chair of the defense. The title of the candidate’s dissertation is: “Mesoproterozoic Basement from the Central and Southern Appalachians Reveal High-Temperature Magmatic Conditions and non-Laurentian Origin of Earth’s Most Zircon Fertile Magmas.”
