Cinco de Mayo is an annual celebration held this year on Wednesday, May 5, 2021. The date is observed to commemorate the Mexican Army’s victory over the French Army at the Battle of Puebla, on May 5, 1862. More popularly celebrated in the United States than in Mexico, the date has become associated with the celebration of Mexican-American culture.
The Center for International Services is inviting Syracuse University students to experience and learn more about this international holiday.
This event will feature:
- Mexican food and snacks,
- DIY succulent planting,
- Pot painting,
- DIY papel picado (paper cutting),
- Lotería and other games,
- And piñatas!
Space is limited to 25 people, and signing up does not guarantee you a spot. An employee from the Center for International Services will contact you regarding attendance confirmation.
