Join the Community Folk Art Center for the new art exhibition: Celebrating the Unlimited Beauty of Blackness by artist London Ladd.

London Ladd, a graduate of Syracuse University, has illustrated numerous critically acclaimed children’s books including March On! The Day My Brother Martin Changed the World (Scholastic), written by Christine King Farris, Frederick’s Journey: The Life of Frederick Douglass (Disney/Jump at the Sun), written by Doreen Rappaport, as well as other titles.

He uses a unique mixed media approach combining cut paper textured with acrylic paint, tissue paper, colored pencil, pen & ink, and touches of digital to bring his diverse subjects to life. Each image is steeped in intensity and emotion, a reflection of the artist himself. Varied influences range from classic and contemporary artists to comic books and graphic novels. “What drives me are discovering new ways of approaching different media and continuing to learn,” says Ladd. His goal is to open a visual arts community center for lower-income families so they can make their own art in a fun, creative environment.
