The Department of Earth & Environmental Sciences in the College of Arts and Sciences presents the K.D. Nelson Lecture Series featuring  speaker Dr. Rachel Glade from the University of Rochester. Her talk is titled: “Soil drips and droplets: solifluction patterns analogous to fluid instabilities.”

Dr. Glade is a geomorphologist whose current research focuses on Arctic landscapes, where ice, water and soil interact to form striking, large-scale patterns. Her research links observations with fluid/granular mechanics, so we can better understand how cold landscapes will respond to climate change.
