This event is a part of Kappa Phi Lambda Sorority Inc.’s annual fall semester event week for Asian Awareness. This year, we decided on the theme, “Hidden Gems of Asia,” to highlight the stories, experiences and cultures of ethnic minority groups in the Asia Region that have not, or do not, usually have a voice. Each event day will focus on the stories of a specific ethnic group, diving deeper into their identity and legacies. On days where physical events are not being held, Kappa Phi Lambda Sorority Inc. will be posting resources on its social media accounts.
Event 3: Stitching Stories: Preserving the Hmong Culture
This event is a collaboration with Bina Lee, a graduate student at Syracuse University who is also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. Bina is Hmong and will be speaking on the Hmong Culture and doing a historical rundown of the Hmong history using storytelling. She will be touching on the importance of the preservation of storytelling for the Hmong community. Attendees will have the chance to participate in an activity during the last 15 minutes of this event.
