The goal is to help faculty hone their approach and effectiveness as advisors, dissertation committee members, and advocates for graduate student success. The inaugural event is an online workshop led by Jan Allen, associate dean of academic and student affairs with the Cornell University Graduate School. The author of The New Faculty and Graduate Mentor and a 2020 recipient of the Council of Graduate Schools’ Associate Deans Leadership Award, Dr. Allen is recognized nationally as an innovator and thought leader in graduate student skill development and mentoring. Using current literature and representative case studies, the workshop will explore elements of effective graduate mentoring relationships.
