Simultaneously both ever-present throughout our daily existence but of no apparent consequence to it. In this colloquium\, Soderberg will explain what motivates researchers to study something so ethereal and describe the experimental landscape that has developed to answer the big questions about the role of neutrinos in our universe. In particular\, he will focus on the upcoming Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE) that will study these particles with multiple detectors the size of the Physics Building located a mile underground in an abandoned gold mine in South Dakota.
