Join us for a workshop with three all-star performers, focused on effective ways to approach writing and performance on stage.
The Spoken Word Poetry Institute brings together leading poets and activists utilizing the media of spoken word to engage SU/SUNY ESF students. The Institute’s participants will learn hands-on techniques that will help them to develop as writers and strengthen their performance skills, as well as create a platform from which they will understand the scope of spoken word poetry’s history, culture, and politics.
The Institute will help students deepen their scholarship and practice as spoken word artists, as well as engage in a discussion on the best practices for raising awareness of social issues using spoken word poetry. Moreover, the day will highlight a theme that will further strengthen participants’ knowledge and understanding of spoken word scholarship, culture, and politics.
Registration is required.
