Join the Newhouse School for the launch of CODE^SHIFT (Collaboratory for Data Equity, Social Healing, Inclusive Futures & Transformation), a new multidisciplinary collaborative research space for communication and data justice.
Newhouse Professor Srivi Ramasubramanian, founding director of CODE^SHIFT, will offer welcoming remarks, followed by a talk with Erica Scharrer G’95, G’98, chair of the communications department at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
Ramasubramanian and Scharrer will also discuss their book, “Quantitative Research Methods in Communication: The Power of Numbers for Social Justice” (Routledge, 2021).
They will be joined by Charisse L’Pree, associate professor of communications, who will discuss her new book, “20th Century Media and the American Psyche A Strange Love” (Routledge, 2021).
Regina Luttrell will discuss her new book co-authored by Lu Xiao (ISchool), and Jon Glass, “Democracy in the Disinformation Age: Influence and Activism in American Politics” (Routledge, 2021).
Other social justice-related scholarship may also be shared. A light brunch will be served.
