December 1: Prof. Duncan Brown, ‘Exploring the Universe with Gravitational Waves’

This session, featuring Professor Duncan Brown, Vice President of Research at Syracuse University, will address the current field of study of gravitational waves.  One hundred years after Einstein predicted the existence of gravitational waves, scientists finally developed the technology needed to detect them and explore the universe. Since the first detection of colliding black holes, astronomers have been using gravitational waves to explore the nature of gravity and explore the evolution of stars. Duncan Brown will describe the history of the field, highlight the major discoveries, and discuss where the field of gravitational-wave astronomy will go in the future.

Meeting Time:  8 a.m. ET
