For many students, debt upon graduation is an inevitable outcome – for Black students, particularly African American students, this inevitability is even more likely due to pernicious historical laws and practices that have directly impeded their ability to build savings and wealth. Balancing financial demands while simultaneously attempting to build an independent, high-quality life can not only be challenging, it can be contradictory. Karina Anderson, assistant director of the financial literature program in financial aid services, provides participants with strategies that will allow them to realistically attack debt and achieve their financial goals.
A Black Health and Wellness Expo event presented by the Office of Diversity and Inclusion , 119 Euclid and the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarship as part of the Black History Month celebration.
