Dr. Claudia Benitez-Nelson is an Associate Dean and Carolina Distinguished Professor in the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of South Carolina. Her research focuses on understanding the biogeochemical cycling of nutrients and carbon and they are influenced by climate change. Honors include: Early Career Award in Oceanography from the American Geophysical Union (AGU); Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) and the Association for the Sciences of Limnology and Oceanography. Dr. Benetiz-Nelson is passionate about teaching and mentoring and is active in many efforts to increase diversity in the sciences.
This presentation is part of the Women in Scientific and Environmental Professions Speaker Series. WiSE Professions has run every spring since 1999.
