Have you watched, if not heard of, Unorthodox? Originally a book by Deborah Feldman, it was recently made into a miniseries by Netflix, followed by other shows depicting the Torah Observant Orthodox & Hasidic Jewish community.
Sadly, most of these dramas are one-sided, leaving viewers with the wrong impressions of what Torah Observant Orthodox & Hasidic Judaism is all about. That’s why Chabad at Syracuse University is excited to bring Sara Berkovic to campus, where you will get to meet her and hear her story of what made her return to her Orthodox roots while staying true to herself.
Sara Berkovic is a first cousin to author Deborah Feldman. From the same family, school in Williamsburg, and the same background, they are close in age, yet distant in emotion. Cousins Sara and Deborah embark on similar journeys that have led to different destinations. Learn more about Sara’s journey with us!
We want to make sure your questions are answered, so please email them in advance to info@chabadsyracuse.com.
Dessert at 8:00pm
