The State of Democracy Lecture Series will present Dave Zirin, Sports Editor for The Nation, a progressive magazine dedicated to politics and culture. Zirin writes a blog for the magazine named Edge of Sports,a weekly sports column, where he covers the politics of sports. In his lecture, he will discuss his new book, “The Kaepernick Effect: Taking A Knee, Changing The World.” The book contains riveting and inspiring first-person stories of how ‘taking a knee’ triggered an awakening in sports (The New Press, 2021).
Reception and book signing will follow the lecture. This lecture series is coordinated by the Campbell Public Affairs Institute. A Communication Access Realtime Translation (CART) will be available. If you require additional accommodations, please contact Jackie Nocevski at Jjnocevs@syr.edu or 315.443.5850 or 9707.
