Gilt Trip: The Syroco Story

Founded in 1890 by Polish immigrant Adolph Holstein, the Syracuse Ornamental Company (Syroco) would become a shining example of the entrepreneurial spirit of Syracuse, New York. Syroco released a wide variety of home furnishings, from mirrors to toothbrush holders, specializing in wall ornamentation fashioned from wood and plastic. This exhibit, curated by Bird Library’s own Reference and User Experience Librarian Natalie LoRusso, explores the history and aesthetics of this seminal local institution.
