A year ago, NFTs—specifically music NFTs—were all the rage. In extreme cases, artists were raising seven and eight-figure dollar amounts, seemingly from investors eager to cash in on the next hot thing. Then this summer, Crypto markets collapsed, losing approximately $1 trillion in value and pulling down much of the NFT market along with them.

So where do we stand today? What are the current creative use cases, business models and value propositions for music NFTs, and what is their potential? Here this week to discuss are two of the more successful music NFT pioneers, Daniel Allan and David Greenstein. Allan is an artist who has established himself as one of the leading music NFT creators; he recently signed with CAA for representation. David Greenstein is the co-founder of the popular indie music NFT platform sound.xyz. We will start with the basics of music NFTs—what they are and why they matter—and work our way into a deep dive of the current challenges and dynamic prospective future of this emerging music technology.
