In this session, Open Scholarship Librarian, Dylan Mohr, will discuss how open access is changing the academic publishing landscape. We will cover the different forms of open access publishing, why some journals charge authors to make their work open access, and how you can leverage local agreements and funds to cover those costs. While most conversations on open access center on academic journals, we will also discuss data sharing and open access thesis/dissertation options. Participants will leave with an understanding of the different approaches to publishing open access as well as how to build this new publishing model into your research projects, funding proposals, and scholarly goals.
This workshop counts towards completion of the Research Skills & Scholarly Publishing badge in the BioInspired Institute’s Professional Development Program.
