The Anthropology presents: A Stamp on the Seafloor/Un Sello en el Fondo del Mar

This talk will discuss, Ruben Santana’s death in a spearfishing accident off the coast of Monte Cristi, Dominican Republic. This short ethnographic film chronicles his life and the events of his death through the voices of his colleagues, for whom Ruben was deeply loved.

Kyrstin Mallon-Andrews, Assistant Professor, Department of Anthropology, Syracuse University

Kyrstin Mallon Andrews is Assistant Professor of Anthropology at Syracuse University. Her work explores shifting ocean ecosystems, environmental politics, and experiences of health among spearfishermen in the Dominican Republic.
