In this week’s Rezak lecture we’ll be talking to Philip Kaplan, the founder and CEO of DistroKid. DistroKid is the world’s most popular music distribution service for independent artists. Founded in 2013, it is estimated that DistroKid distributes between 30-40% of all new music in the world.

Millions of artists rely on DistroKid to get their music into streaming services and collect royalties, including hobbyists, up-and-coming musicians, top influencers and international stars.

Prior to DistroKid, Kaplan was founder of startup incubator ADHD Labs, whose company TinyLetter was acquired by MailChimp in 2011. Kaplan was also founder and CEO of online ad service AdBrite, and in 2002 wrote the bestselling book, “F’d Companies: Spectacular Dot-com Flameouts.”

In 1997, Kaplan obtained a B.S. from Syracuse University’s iSchool.
