Open access is changing the academic publishing landscape. Dylan Mohr, Open Scholarship Librarian at Syracuse University, will cover the different forms of open access publishing, why some journals charge authors to make their work open access, and how you can leverage local agreements and funds to cover those costs. While most conversations on open access center on academic journals, he will also discuss open access monograph publishing and thesis/dissertation options. Participants will leave with an understanding of the different approaches to publishing open access as well as how to build this new publishing model into their research projects and scholarly goals.

Dylan Mohr is the Open Scholarship Librarian and Syracuse University. He provides support to scholars seeking to publish their work open access, the institutional repository (SURFACE), and other publishing related initiatives. He is also part of the Digital and Open Scholarship team in the Department of Research & Scholarship. Prior to joining SU in March of 2022, Dylan was a visiting assistant professor at Gustavus Adolphus College, the Program Manager for the Center for Austrian Studies at the University of Minnesota, and the assistant editor of Cultural Critique.
