George Lakey (Swarthmore College, emeritus)

In this fourth set of anchor events associated with Environmental Storytelling CNY, legendary social justice activist and author George Lakey draws on principles from his 2018 book, How We Win: A Guide to Nonviolent Direct Action Campaigning. His work with youth pursues ecojustice at the intersections of race, class, queerness, and the climate crisis. He shares insights on how to successfully mobilize cross-sections of society to address the massive structural challenges we face in the United States, and how event attendees can also create inclusive nonviolent campaigns.
