The oral doctoral examination of Kristian Contreras, candidate for the Ph.D. degree will be held on Tuesday, April 18, at 9:00 a.m. EST via Zoom.
Contreras’s advisor is Professor Dalia Rodriguez. The dissertation examining committee will be composed of Professors Himika Bhattacharya, Linda Carty and Beverly Guy-Sheftall. Professor Dawn Johnson will serve as chair of the defense. The title of the candidate’s dissertation is: “#NotYourMammy: Explicating the Experiences of Black Women Graduate Students as Learners and Laborers in American Academia.”
