Roger Hallas, associate professor of English, will discuss his forthcoming book A Medium Seen Otherwise: Photography in Documentary Film (Oxford Univ. Press, 2023) which offers an intermedial analysis of the role of still photographs in film across a range of documentaries that span the globe. He will offer an overview of the project and field questions and answers both about the project and about how the framework/structure of the book evolved as he wrote it.
