Dissertation Defense: Moushumi Shabnam

The oral doctoral examination of Moushumi Shabnam, candidate for the Ph.D. degree will be held on Friday, July 21,  at 10 a.m. via Zoom.

Shabnam’s advisors are Professor A. H. Peter Castro and Hans C. Buechler. The dissertation examining committee will be composed of Professors Susan S. Wadley, Ann G. Gold, and Timur W Hammond. Professor Arthur Paris will serve as chair of the defense. The title of the candidate’s dissertation is: “American Islam Emerging: Ethnographic Explorations of Bangladeshi Diasporic Communities and Their Identity Politics, Piety Movements, and Meaning-Making in New York City Post 9/11.”
