American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification Course

Interested in lifeguarding? Register today for a full lifeguard and CPR course! This three-day class will be held at the Prettyman Pool in the Barnes Center at The Arch and is free for all Syracuse University students and staff. To register, please contact aquatics coordinator Lauren Perry at lperry01@syr.edu.
Prerequisite Skills
- Swim 300 yards demonstrating breath control.
- Tread water for two (2) minutes using only your legs.
- Complete a timed event water rescue with a 10-pound object.
- Exit the water without using a ladder or steps.
Required Items
- Bathing suit (swim trunks or a one-piece swimsuit)
- Goggles (optional)
- Note: Towels and CPR masks are provided
