This event has already occurred. The information may no longer be valid.

Access & Resource Sharing presents Film Noir, a new display on the fourth floor of Bird Library.  The term film noir refers to a large group of movies, mostly black & white crime pictures made during the 1940s and 1950s, which have stylistic similarities to one another, and which tend to express the pessimism and anxiety associated with post-World War II society.  Included are examples on DVD from Bird Library of such classics as Double Indemnity (1944), The Big Sleep (1946), and Sunset Boulevard (1950), along with many lesser-known gems.  Books devoted to film noir topics are also included, along with reproductions of movie posters, film stills, portraits, and brief biographical notes.  Film Noir will remain up through the summer.
