Join the current Syracuse University Art Museum Art Wall Project artist Stephanie H. Shih and Lily C. Wong, Harry der Boghosian Fellow at the School of Architecture, for a workshop at the SU Art Museum. We will discuss Shih’s ceramic rice bag sculptures as well as related objects from the Museum’s permanent collection. We’ll explore ideas around food culture, production, and consumption through the interrelated lenses of diaspora and rice, a staple food around the globe. The workshop includes a hands-on art-making activity. Open to Syracuse University and ESF undergraduate and graduate students.
Participants will be invited to a reception featuring rice snacks and tea immediately after the workshop.
If you are interested in attending, please register here.
This program is generously co-sponsored by the Syracuse University Humanities Center and the East Asia Program.
