May’s Early Career Research in Neuroscience Seminar Series on Thursday, May 4, 2023, on Zoom will feature a presentation by Dr. Anel Jaramillo.
Anel Jaramillo, assistant professor from the Pharmaceutical Sciences Department at the University of Kentucky, will talk about her work researching the neural circuitry modulating anxiety and abstinence-induced affective disturbances (Jaramillo et al, Neurobiology of Stress, 2020). She uses cell-specific expression strategies, combining mouse lines and viruses, coupled with novel in vivo measures of synaptic activity in preclinical alcohol and stress models. This work has exciting implications for examining the mechanisms involved in stress-induced relapse, and more broadly with negative affective states.
Title: “Role for PACAP-expressing neurons in the parabrachial nucleus during alcohol abstinence”
